The Naturebright Suntouch is one of the “oldest” full spectrum light boxes for SAD and is probably the most affordable one of all.
As opposed to blue light therapy for SAD home devices, which mostly use LED technology, Naturebright Suntouch uses fluorescent bulbs to emit the necessary 10,000 LUX. This can explain the relatively low price.
The most unique feature of the NatureBright SunTouch is that it’s the only light box for SAD that combines light therapy with negative ion therapy.
Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, electron-sized particles found in refreshing environments like on beaches and around waterfalls. Clinical studies show that ion therapy has an antidepressant effect within a few days of use.
But the real question is: Is fluorescent still relevant in a world of LED light boxes? Find it on this Naturebright Suntouch Review.

Naturebright Suntouch Review
Naturebright promises to balance your body clock, which is vital for proper sleep, feeling rested, energized and refreshed. Light and ions combine to lift your mood, stabilize your internal rhythms, and invigorate your body systems.
Thirty minutes a day (preferably in the morning) can alleviate almost all SAD symptoms and significantly improve your spirits, sleep cycles and concentration. The manufacturer claims it’s possible to reduce effects of painful PMS symptoms too, without medication and side effects.
The Good Stuff
1. You’ll safely receive sky effect light stimulation– the equivalent of standing outdoors on a clear spring day.
2. Ion Therapy (as explained above) is a nice bonus. It’s like having fresh air blowing at you. With the ionizer and the lamp on, you feel like you are sitting outside on a sunny day.
3. A timer which is wonderfully easy to operate and makes the 30 minute timing precise.
4. The price is one of lowest in the market, but the quality is not affected.
5. Durability – It has a firm build. My friend (who owns one) dropped it off of the table onto the floor and it still works.
6. Light Source Size – The Naturebright is quite larger (compared to other light boxes), which means you don’t have to sit that close to it and still be exposed to the full 10,000 LUX.
The Not so Good Stuff
1. It could take up to two weeks before you feel the results. So you have to stick with it even if you feel no change after a few days.
2. Some people may dislike the rubber or plastic smell that the ionizer produces.
3. It’s larger than most light boxes, which make it less ideal for travel.
4. It’s not LED. fluorescent bulbs are not nearly as durable as LED, and the light produced is not exactly natural. If you prefer LED technology, check out my review for the 2 best LED SAD lamps.
This unit gives you good value for its cost, nice size, looks nice, quiet and has an automatic timer in 15 min increments then turns itself off. Since I personally own the Philips goLITE (see my review), I had to ask my best friend for her review on this device, since she owns one.
Her first answer was “What can I say, it works! I use it in the morning for 30 minutes while I check emails…
I felt the difference within 2 days of using it: My mood is lifted beyond recognition and I have so much more energy now. I was skeptical at first, but now I am a believer.”
I would definitely recommend the Naturebright Suntouch – It’s a great light box and the price is usually discounted and one of the lowest in the market. LED light bulbs or not.
How to Use NatureBright SunTouch Plus
To receive 10,000 lux, you have to sit at least as close as 15 inches. The manual says that with the ionizer on, you can sit as far as 20 inches.
The lights should be good for about 3 years (there are 4 in the lamp), and it costs about $60 to replace all four.
